DEICHMANN Award

Young people need a job which offers them a perspective. That is why support starting at an early age, preferably at school, and the creation of apprenticeships and jobs are so vital. Once again this year, the entrepreneur Heinrich Deichmann has invited companies, associations, public initiatives as well as schools to apply for the award against youth unemployment. The total prize money is Euro 100,000. The fact is - the earlier disadvantaged children and young people are getting support, the better their outlook will be. Young people, who come under the category disadvantaged, are in particular those with learning difficulties, without school education, the disabled, socially disadvantaged people or also foreign citizens with integration difficulties.

Ministers, senators and minister presidents are supporting the prize nationwide within the scope of regional awards for particularly committed applicants.

The targeted support of young people is entirely influenced by DEICHMANN’s corporate philosophy: The company must serve the people - is the company’s guiding principle. DEICHMANN currently employs over 2,450 apprentices. However, the company likes to give young people a chance, which goes beyond this. The award website for example is operated in cooperation with an apprentice of the University Computer Centre of the Technical University at Darmstadt, which in 2005 was among the winners of the award.
